Located in beautiful Southern Shores, North Carolina, the Clarke Cottage was built in 1954 and sits at 156 Wax Myrtle Trail where it intersects with Porpoise Run. Just 1,000 feet to the beach, this rustic, vintage flat top is one of the original Southern Shores Flat Top Cottages of the Frank Stick era, and in 2018 was designated by Town Council as a “Southern Shores Historic Landmark”.
Weekly rent ranges from only $600 to $795 at the height of the summer, plus sales and occupancy tax. 3 bedrooms, 1 bath with shower, hot & cold outside shower, kitchen, living/dining combination, & enclosed porch, window air conditioners, ceiling fans, TV. Sleeps 6 – 8; please limit to no more than 6 adults but can accommodate 8 including children.
A historic flat top cottage, it is constructed from local materials – cement blocks from beach sand and tongue-&-groove panelling from local juniper and built on just under 1/2 acre. Since most lots in Southern Shores are nearly 1/2 acre, this adds to the natural beauty of the ocean and beach.
Steve fell in love with the Cottage when he first rented it in 1985. We and our children Skylar and Jason have been proud owners since 2009. We are the third owners, following George & Clara Clarke and Jim & Rebecca Mauch. We invite you to take a step back in time to the way it was in the 1960s and experience your week at the beach in this charming cottage in the most tranquil of the northern Outer Banks beaches.
